Veteran-owned coffee: what it means here

"Veteran-owned" is a meaningful consumer signal — and an easy phrase to overclaim. This page states exactly what our badge does and does not represent, then points to the 7 directory records that currently qualify.

Our definition (plain language)

On this site, Veteran-Owned means: the roaster's own website (or a page clearly published by that business) states that the company is veteran-owned, and we store a source_url pointing at that evidence. The badge on a profile links out so you can read the claim in context.

What this is not

How we check

During verification we look for an explicit ownership statement, capture the URL, and set veteran_owned.value only when that evidence exists. Ambiguous copy stays unbadged. Full pipeline rules: How we verify roasters.

Who qualifies in this directory today

7 listings currently carry the badge (dataset last verified 2026-07-20). The curated list with evidence lines is on the veteran-owned roasters page; the finder's flagship filter surfaces the same set.

FAQ

Is this the same as SDVOSB or NaVOBA certification?
No. On-site claim + source link only, unless a specific record says otherwise.
Can a roaster pay for the badge?
No. Inclusion and badges are not sold.
What if a site only says it supports veterans?
Not enough — we need a clear ownership claim.
